A top-view photo makes quick work of general top-view design as well. (Racer Magazine, December 2000)

As most of the model's parts are based on the top-view, work initially focuses on the design of all levels of parts in this view. Individual body panels are drawn, some of their shapes refined for easier model design (and to account for perspective in the overhead photo used).

Details are added and small changes made so the view looks right. About 5 hours total illustration time so far.

Once the exterior is sorted, then the inner structures are developed. Again, Racer Magazine's photos made this fairly quick step (about another 4 hours of work).

More bodywork is removed making more work necessary for the side radiators and the entire engine and rear suspension.
