Prototyp : Model : Jaguar XJR-10 / 11
Process, Part Eight.
Introduction - 1 2

Two versions of the XJR11 have been produced. A curbside 'Easy' version which emphasises integrity of the body form and a full detail 'Open' version which explores all the chassis' details. Panel fit for the removable paper bodywork is not as good as the closed panels of the curbside so for display purposes, the closed version is available. Depending on builder response, this may well become a standard approach for future Prototyp models.

The full detail model best captures the spirit and intent of Prototyp. It is a very complex model which requires a significantly more time to build up as well as more paper and parts: six sheets plus several optional parts versus four sheets total for the easy version. The chassis is presented in fully accurate architecture including some hidden internal structures. Parts can be combined from the detailed 'Open' version model to the 'Easy' version to make a more accurate display model.

A sheet of optional parts created for the 'Open' version can be used with multi-medium materials to build a model of detail rivalling that of a plastic kit with full interior detail, engine details, transparent 'glazed' windows and opening doors.

'Construct' building illustrations are currently being finished and test builds are being arranged. The Easy version of the 1990 Silk Cut car likely the first to be released. But how? Process, Part Nine: Beyond the model > >
